Syncing odometers
When the Current Protected LTD Mileage is offset from the Odometer Input at Last Transaction and the Last Valid Odometer Reading, the LTD can be synced up or down to match the Odo Input and Last Valid Odo.
In order to sync the LTD to the Odo Input, set the Expected On-board Odometer equal to the LTD Mileage. This will trigger the system to sync the yellow-highlighted values (247,868.7) to the purple-highlighted values (247,750).
The synchronization process is governed by the Mileage Options found within the System Monitor Options Utility. For the system to successfully sync, the Current Protected LTD Mileage and the Odometer Input at Last Transaction must be within a 5,000-mile range of each other. This number is settable by an administrator. When configured according to the aforementioned instructions, the system will adjust the mileage accordingly. The system will sync an extra 45 miles per day, either up or down, but this adjustment will not exceed the maximum of 45 miles. This value is also settable by an administrator. The additional miles combined with miles traveled will not adjust higher than the Max Trip Distance value for any one transaction.
The Vehicle Odometer Difference Report shows the vehicles that are synced (not highlighted) vs. the vehicles that are set to sync (highlighted in yellow on the report).
The daily additional (or subtracted) mileage is called Drift Correction, and can be located on the Vehicle Service Odometers Report. In this example, the Actual Odometer Input on 2/27/2025 is slightly lower than the Protected Odo and Expected Odo, so the system syncs them down using a negative value for drift correction over the course of two transactions. On 3/3/2025, the Protected Odometer, Expected Odometer, and Actual Odometer Input are all synced up.
